Don’t have a lot of time to spare and want a quick STI test? If you don’t have any symptoms or concerns then the Xpress clinic may be a good option for you. At Xpress you complete a computerised history and then see the nurse to have your tests collected. Xpress offers free and confidential testing and management of STI, with a shorter consultation than the general clinic - especially convenient for people who have to test frequently.

HIV services

SSHC has HIV specialist staff and provides free and confidential testing, treatment and care for people at risk of or living with HIV. You can either make an appointment or drop in during our opening hours.

Rapid HIV testing

Rapid HIV testing is when you can test and get your result for HIV in the one visit! The test is taken from a finger prick blood sample and put on a test device. Results are available in about 20 minutes. Rapid testing is now available to gay men at SSHC via a University of NSW research trial.

Survey: HIV Meds in Local Chemists

The Federal Minister for Health, the Hon. Peter Dutton MP announced that from 1 July 2015, people with HIV will be able to access HIV medication from community pharmacies. This is an important change and will increase convenience for people with HIV.

In preparation for the roll-out of community pharmacy dispensing of HIV medications, Positive Life NSW is keen to hear from you about whether you would use a community chemist to collect your HIV drugs and if not, what your concerns might be. We would also like to hear from those of you who are enrolled in the Enhanced Medication Access (EMA) scheme. In particular, what you may need for a seamless transition from EMA to a community pharmacy arrangement.

The survey will take about 2 minutes to complete and will close on the 25 October. Your response is confidential and will help Positive Life inform the roll-out of the community pharmacy dispensing in NSW.

If you have any difficulty accessing or completing the survey, please contact Harry on 02 9206 2177 or HarryR@positivelife.org.au
